The Albion Band, also known as The Albion Country Band, The Albion Dance Band, and The Albion Christmas Band, were a British folk rock band, originally brought together and led by musician Ashley Hutchings. Generally considered one of the most important groupings in the genre, it has contained or been associated with a large proportion of major English folk performers in its long and fluid history.

See details and exclusions. I had always put on a traditional choral Christmas Carols album over Christmas but following Kate Rusby's excellent "Sweet Bells" CD I wanted to try another traditional folk style album and this fits the bill brilliantly. I wanted to recreate the country village pub sound with regional tunes to well known carols and carols that reflect a Christmas feel whilst being almost pagan in historical origin - the Wassail type of song. The band are all seasoned musicians and excellent, Kellie While's voice is stunning. An album I am very pleased to own and would recommend to anyone.
Let’s take for instance this aptly timed recording courtesy of the Albion Christmas Band. Secondly any album featuring the combined talents of Kellie While, Simon Care, Ashley Hutchings and Simon Nicol is always worthwhile checking out. As well as the established First Nowell, Hark The Herald Angels Sing and the stark beauty of In the Bleak Midwinter there are lesser-known gems such as Past Three O’Clock and God Bless The Master.
