At various times during Pour in the Sky, Liquid Jesus tries nearly everything: punk, country, blues, soul, Zeppelin-esque hard rock, psychedelia, and grinding funk. On the best tracks, they blended several styles at the same time, creating an unpredictable but fascinating fusion of ideas. Few other alternative bands could imagine the idea of a jazzy torch song turning into a heavy metal romp, but Liquid Jesus could not only imagine it, they pulled it off on "Feelings Flower. This strategy was nevertheless a weakness because the radio programmers had no idea what to do with such a sprawlingly diverse album.
