Terrifyer is the third studio album by American grindcore band Pig Destroyer. It was released in 2004 by Relapse Records. Gravedancer" appeared on the Tony Hawk's American Wasteland soundtrack as a cut down 1:37 version (ending where the sample begins). The album includes a second disc recorded in DVD-Audio and mixed with . surround sound. The disc contains one doom metal song called "Natasha"
Released October 12, 2004. 2. Pretty in Casts Lyrics. 3. Boy Constrictor Lyrics. Producers Scott Hull. Guitar Solo Matthew Mills. Guitar, Bass Scott Hull. More Pig Destroyer albums.
Pig Destroyer aren't out for the middle of the road presentation with this album given the Ralph Steadman/Gerald Scarfe-styled cover art, then again it's hard to see how they would be interested in that approach in the first place. Perhaps thankfully, the cover's nowhere near as grotesque to look at as the cover of Prowler in the Yard. What fans may be even more intrigued by is the bonus second disc, an audio DVD presentation called "Natasha" even longer than Terrifyer by five minutes. Pitched somewhere between a very long song and a movie without visuals (the presentation was mixed in . sound for those with such a setup), with both lyrics and a related short story reprinted in the booklet, it's the complete opposite of Terrifyer's sound - slow, considered, many pauses, even intelligible lyrics - but is equally powerful in its own right.
Pig Destroyer only has three people, no bassist but it doesn’t matter they are good and are heavy without. Scott Hull’s riffs on the album are awesome, fast paced h, well thought out riffs. They bring the mood and never get boring on the album. The guitar work is so good and production and style makes them heavy and so insane. Near the end of he album, at about Dead Carnations, the riffs, to me, start to get even better and are very well written. The drumming is amazing as well, with plenty of blast beats and other crazy drumming. Terrifyer is not only recommended, but a Must for fans of extreme music, or for those looking for something refreshing to the vast categorization of metal. Grind almighty! - 95%. xGhostchantx, October 19th, 2005.
