Over the years, the name Reale Accademia di Musica has also been used by other session musicians, but the real line-up broke up just after the recording of this LP, and never asked for an explanation for an improper use of the band’s name. Who ever thought of listening to the real Reale Accademia in those 'apocryphal' achievements, not only can possibly turned out disappointed, but will certainly have noticed the clear differences against their historic first recordings

La Cometa is a music studio album recording by REALE ACCADEMIA DI MUSICA (Rock Progressivo Rock) released in 2013 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Only for completionists (20%).

Reale Accademia Di Musica biography Founded in Rome, Italy in 1972 - Disbanded in 1976 - Reformed in 2018 Note: The name was also used on several recordings by different formations. Formed after the split of FHOLKS (Jimi HENDRIX support band in their Italian last tour in 1970), this group similar to BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO, SAMADHI or LOCANDA DELLE FATE, was composed by Federico Troiani (keys & vocals), Nicola Agrimi (guitars), Pierfranco Pavone (bass), Roberto Senzasono (drums) and Spanish singer Henryk Topel Cabanes  . La Cometa was supposed to be Reale Accademia Di Musica's second album - it was shelved for unknown reasons and remained unreleased until 2010.

Reale Accademia di Musica derived from a very popular band from Rome, I Fholks, that in their career also supported Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix (both in 1968 in Rome), but just managed to release a single. The origins of this group lay in a beat band, i Condors, formed in 1965 and featuring guitarist Claudio Baldassarri and bassist Pierfranco Pavone, later renamed Folks to play as backing band of singer Roby Crispiano. The same group of musicians worked on a new album, entitled La cometa, with tracks written by singer Henryk Topel that was never released at the time. The unreleased album, recorded in 1974, was finally issued in 2013. The last appearance of the musicians from Reale Accademia di Musica was with Nada on her 1975 album, 1930: Il domatore delle scimmie. Federico Troiani had a good career later as solo artist, session musician and producer until his death in 2000.

Reale Accademia di Musica was released in 1972, the pinnacle year of prog rock, and a year when many progressive artists from England and Italy were releasing arguably their best material. It’s perhaps understandable then why this album was overlooked, when there was just too much good music to hear everything. The band’s name doesn’t help either as it seems rather formal: ‘Royal Academy of Music’ doesn’t exactly shout Rock and Roll. But the drama didn’t stop there as last year the original guitarist Pericle Sponzilli, who wasn’t on any of the other subsequent releases after the first album, decided he wanted to have a go at using the band’s name, even going as far as using the original band logo on his album Angeli Mutanti as if to say No, I’m the real one!.

Recorded in 1974, “La Cometa” (The Comet) was never released and distributed, and for 39 years has remained hidden from the general public; it’s a still actual LP both on musical and lyrical aspects, which would have come out on RCA label.Over the years, the name Reale Accademia di Musica has also been used by other session musicians, but the real line-up broke up just after the recording of this LP, and never asked for an explanation for an improper use of the band’s name. Who ever thought of listening to the real Reale Accademia in those 'apocryphal' achievements, not only can possibly turned out disappointed, but will certainly have noticed the clear differences against their historic first recordings. But "La Cometa", which comes out now after almost 40 years, is actually performed and recorded by the real members of Reale Accademia di Musica: there we find the original founders Henrik Topel, Federico Troiani and Pericles Sponzilli, along with a host of new friends that helped them to record the LP. Another hidden gem in the endless panorama of Italian progressive rock!
