Come What May" is a song composed by David Baerwald and Kevin Gilbert, originally intended for the film William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet. However, it was first heard publicly, and is best known as the romantic love theme from Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film Moulin Rouge!, where it is sung by Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman in their respective roles as Christian and Satine. The song takes its title from a phrase that originates from Shakespeare's Macbeth.
He falls back on it in places, particularly on side two, but sings straight much of the time, which will come as a bit of a revelation for anyone who ever wondered whether his Domino sound was an affectation. Barry also shows that Domino isn't the only impression he can do - he does a pretty good Lefty Frizzell on "Always Late (With Your Kisses). In retrospect, Joe Barry doesn't sound like hit material, but it is an interesting epilogue to the career of this New Orleans rock & roller who returned again in 2002 with Been Down That Muddy Road.
