Composer, Michael Colgrass took seven of their answers, including: A Leaf Turning Colors; An Uninhabited Creek; An Ant Walking; Children sleeping; Time Passing; A Soft Rainfall; and The First Star Coming Out, and composed an orchestral work in which he imagines sounds for each simile. For the Children and Time sections (beginning about 6:30) Colgrass used a melody from the piano sonatina in G, Anh. 5 (attrib. to Beethoven), followed by five brief variations of the theme. Each variation is in the style of a different composer: Haydn, Sibelius, Stravinsky, Ravel, and Count Basie
