The album includes four of his biggest hits: I Walk the Line, Cry! Cry! Cry!, So Doggone Lonesome and Folsom Prison Blues. This one was also the first LP ever released by Sun Records label. In 1955, when Cash first auditioned for being signed under the label, he failed to impress its founder Sam Philips after presenting himself as a gospel singer. Cash was told to come back with a more commercial sound, as gospel wouldn’t sell. He returned with the songs Hey Porter! and Cry! Cry! Cry! and subsequently released them as his debut singles on Sun Records in July 1955

This album has an average beat per minute of 117 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 92/218 BPM). See its BPM profile at the bottom of the page. Tracklist Johnny Cash With His Hot and Blue Guitar. Original Sun Sound of Johnny Cash, All Aboard the Blue Train.

Better than the debut of Elvis? Johnny Cash with His Hot and Blue Guitar is the debut album of Johnny Cash, released on October 11, 1957. The original vinyl of ‘with His Hot and Blue Guitar’ is 27 minutes and 40 seconds long and packs more quality into that short time span than many of the big acts of modern times could ever manage. Folsom Prison Blues’ offers up the iconic lyric, When I was just a baby my mama told me, Son, Always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns, But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die later performed at Folsom Prison itself and resulting in a loud cheer from the prisoners. This track seems to me to be the first step on his path to becoming ‘The Man In Black’.

Notes

Reissue of 1956 LP.

From Both Sides Now:

"Second cover has the light blue background replaced with white. Half of the guitar and "CASH" are yellow, and the other half of his guitar is white. "HOT" in the title is yellow and "BLUE" is in white. Covers have a dull finish, i.e, they are not laminated. Some later issues have a "stereo" designation on the top of the jacket, but the record is mono".
