Thoresen: En Broderfolkskonsert, To The Brother Peoples. The epic works of Lasse Thoresen emerge between traditional folk music and art music. This recording by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Ingar Bergby is released to mark his 60th birthday. Thoresen’s musical output is very wide in its stylistic range. Over the years his works have received numerous prizes and awards, including Prix Jacques Durand (2001), Institut de France and the Edvard Prize (2003). He has also received commissions from such performers as Truls Mørk, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and Grieg Trio.

Lasse Thoresen (born 1949) is a norwegian composer, who is often associated with contemporary music. He is educated by the Music conservatory in Oslo (later Norwegian Academy of Music) under Finn Mortensen (1972), and by Werner Kaegi (Utrecht, 1973).
Lasse Thoresen (born 18 October 1949) is a Norwegian composer whose works concentrate on a contemporary transformation of the folk-music traditions of many peoples, especially those of Scandinavia. Thoresen was born in Oslo in 1949 and studied with Finn Mortensen at the Norwegian Academy of Music, graduating in 1972. He studied electroacoustic music in Utrecht, and musique concrète and spectral music in Paris. He has been professor of composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music since 1988.
