I'm With the Band is her story. If you've ever watched Almost Famous and found yoursel Pamela Des Barres grew up living a comfortable middle-class life in Reseda California. Incredible stuff and I was in complete groupie fan heaven reading this book. Set mainly in the SoCal area, the book basks in that sunny, trippy vibe that only late '60's locations in Laurel Canyon and Hollywood can radiate. The author literally lived hand-to- mouth through her fledgling D-movie career and sales of handmade country-western shirts.
Travelin' Light is a 1965 studio album by Shirley Horn. Not all of the material is equally strong and none of the very concise dozen performances clocks in at even three minutes, so this is not an essential session.
