Black Sabbath are one of the founders of heavy metal. Formed in Birmingham, England in 1969, they paved the way for all genres of metal. In the '70s they released a series of classic albums.
Black Sabbath are the forefathers of heavy metal, says Rick Rubin, the producer of the band’s most recent album 13. They may well be the heaviest band of all time. And I don’t know of a more influential band other than The Beatles. It was in 1969, in Birmingham, that Black Sabbath was formed. The four band members – guitarist Tony Iommi, singer Ozzy Osbourne, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward – had been playing together for a year previously, first as Polka Tulk, later as Earth. When we started out, Iommi says, we were a blues rock band. But one day in ’69, they wrote a song.
Heavy Metal Black Sabbath. Band's List Heavy Metal Black Sabbath Black Sabbath. The first song is called Black Sabbath. The song opens with a church bell and thunder(you can also hear the noise of a rain shower). Then it goes into a tri-tone song with an ominous mood and slow tempo. The drum playing of Bill Ward adds a somber effect to this song. The tempo picks up the pace in the last 90 seconds of this song. Tony Iommi displays some flashy guitar riffs towards The End of this song. The lyrics are about the terror of being pursued by Satan.
