Herbert L. Clarke (1867–1942) was the best-known cornet soloist in America during the first two decades of the twentieth century. He is remembered today as the author of several fine etude books for the cornet and as the composer of many solo works for that instrument. Clarke served as cornet soloist for Sousa's Band and conducted that ensemble on many Victor records. He also was the conductor of Clarke's Band of Providence (formerly the American Band of Providence) and recorded over one hundred titles with that ensemble between 1900 and 1903
Herbert Lincoln Clarke (September 12, 1867 – January 30, 1945) was an American cornet player, feature soloist, bandmaster, and composer. He is considered the most prominent cornetist of his time.
