WHEN BLUES MET ROCK chronicles the journey of electric blues from the old masters (slide-guitar saint Elmore James, Chicago harmonica hero Sonny Boy Williamson) to the younger generations of blues-rockers (Southern boys the Allman Brothers Band, Brit blues-boom kings the Yardbirds, West Coast wailers Canned Heat). The sound of the blues may change as it moves from James's Dust My Broom to Stevie Ray Vaughan's Pride and Joy, but the spirit remains the same.

Digipack is created to look like a matchbook comple with striker for the matches. The title tells IT all. Great representation of electric blues from the 1950S through the 1980S. A remarkably well done album featuring 16 of the greatest electric blues songs from over four decades.
Guns N’ Roses were so out of control, that the making of their debut album turned into a lengthy and expensive saga. Strange to think now that there was outrage in some quarters when they introduced acoustic guitars to the audience at Hammersmith Odeon (think Bob Dylan’s ‘Judas’ debacle when he went electric, but in reverse) on the Lightning tour. Though if their audience and critics were still clinging to the past, Metallica were marching purposefully forward to the beat of their own drum (toms and double bass drums, mostly), setting the spark to the flame of a genuine musical revolution

Written by blues rock stalwarts Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, ‘A Teenager In Love’ found itself in the UK charts three times over in June 1959. The biggest hit belonged to Kim’s dad Marty Wilde but Dion DiMucci launched a career off the back of this doo-wop beauty, hitting paydirt with ‘Runaround Sue’ and ‘The Wanderer’ and still mooching around today. Various versions have surfaced in the movies and on TV, sh-booming through Johnny Depp’s Cry-Baby and Patrick Swayze’s Roadhouse as well as appearing in Dennis Potter’s 50s pastiche Lipstick On Your Collar for the BBC. 81 Johnny Ace, ‘Pledging My Love’. Rock And Roll Music’ is a quickfire tribute to the form, a skidding, popping workout written by Berry and produced by the Chess brothers for their own leading blues label.
