The Persuader is a funny name for an artist; I’m interested to learn how you decided to name yourself under this alias? The first releases I did as the Persuader came out on Svek around 1997. We were looking for a picture to put on the centre label of the record. Actually, the record was under my own name but the picture we choose in the end came from a photo shoot when I was modelling for a shoe company and part of the payment was a print of myself in a tweed jacket. From 1997 – 2001 you released a lot of records as The Persuader, but then you took a 12 year sabbatical, what was the a reason for this break? I was always interested in trying new things and when the label Svek finally threw in the towel around 2001 I felt it was time to move on and explore new sounds and invent new projects. Every project has its own time and it’s nice to encapsulate a certain period in a project and then move on.
Persuader had been at work on their next studio album for several years since the release of When Eden Burns. The album experienced multiple delays due to various reasons. In addition, band members have contributed to their side projects during this time including, in 2008, Dark Empire's Humanity Dethroned and, in 2009, Savage Circus's Of Doom and Death. In updates, the band humorously refers to their recording location as Studio Värdelös. The Swedish word värdelös translates to "useless" in English.
By 1973, and their second album, John Tobias and Thomas Lee Hill had replaced Barnes and Stodghill. The group stayed with Atco/Atlantic for four years and scored a number of R&B and pop hits, including three R&B Top 10 hits. But without the Persuader Rule, employees and the public have no way of knowing what role anti-union persuaders may have played behind the scenes,' said von Wilpert.
