children laughter) Hey fuck you, man. Random lost souls have asked me "What's the future of Rock & Roll?" I say "I don't know. Does it matter?" This and that scene, they sound all the same to me Neither much worse nor much better. And our soccer moms and dads Who raised us brats on those TV ads I know that they sleep at night Their conscience is intact They've convinced themselves of that Giving money to Jesus fucking H Christ. How they laughed as we shoveled the ashes Of the twin towers Blood and death, we will pay back the debt Of this candy store of ours Of this candy store of ours Of this candy store of ours.

The band currently consists of Conrad Keely (vocals, guitar, drums), Jason Reece (vocals, guitar, drums), Autry Fulbright II (bass) and Jamie Miller (drums, guitar).
On Worlds Apart, they remain hard to classify, except on their own terms. Though the Trail of Dead sound as angry, regretful, and hopeful as they did when they started, this is a much more polished album than their breakthrough, Source Tags & Codes, and their fiery sound is tempered by nods to '70s prog and album rock. But the band's attack on complacency extends to their own music: Worlds Apart might be a noble failure, but it would probably be worse if it just revisited previous successes.
Trail of Dead has made the album of its career. And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead slips, it's in the service of exploration. With Worlds Apart, the band takes a confident, blind leap toward a potentially confounding future, and lands solidly and triumphantly. Worlds Apart is not perfect but it is a fantastic follow upOne of the most inexplicably panned records (by critics not fans) I can remember. There are a handful of songs that are absolute classics (Caterwaul, Let It Dive, Rest Will Follow, A Classic Arts Showcase) and while the back end tails off in a different direction it is still majestic and arranged beautifully.
Worlds Apart is an aspiration, an apology, the sound of confusion. The album's least self-conscious cut, "Will You Smile Again", charges out with a mammoth 5/4 riff, loud and snarling and far more theatrical than the cartoonish "Ode to Isis".
