Anthony James Donegan MBE (29 April 1931 – 3 November 2002), known as Lonnie Donegan, was a British skiffle singer, songwriter and musician, referred to as the "King of Skiffle", who influenced 1960s British pop musicians. Born in Scotland and raised in England from the age of 1, he is listed in the British Hit Singles & Albums as "Britain's most successful and influential recording artist before The Beatles".
Lonnie Donegan, MBE (born April 29, 1931, Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland – died November 3, 2002, Market Deeping, Lincolnshire, England) was a British skiffle vocalist, banjo, washboard player, guitarist and songwriter dubbed the King Of Skiffle, who influenced many 1960's British pop musicians.
