The ambient material is more keening and emotional, as if it is a music of nostalgia and loss. As orange is the opposite of blue, and the material seemed very different, rather than mix the two as a series of alternating compositional styles, we present them as wholes to themselves even as they are only half of the entire statement - Half Blue and Half Orange; opposites in conjunction that form a balance.
Marz Warwick - Half Blue Half Orange (2007). MrMarz and Henry Warwick, together again, and again. The past work in MRW was well received so they thought they'd turn up the knob a notch or three. They found their music fell into two basic groups. One beat based, one more free form ambient. The beat based stuff tended to be modal and minor, so we thought it was "bluish", hence, Half Blue. The ambient material is more keening and emotional, as if it is a music of nostalgia and loss
Open 11am-9pm Sunday-Thursday, 11am-10pm Friday & Saturday. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in our beer garden

Half an Orange features two Ohio natives, Andrew Spellman and Michael Maloof. The duo’s odd name comes from a Portuguese expression that Michael learned while living on a beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for a year. The expression, metade da laranja (translated to half an orange ), means that everyone is half an orange looking for that one person, thing, or purpose that completes them (or the other half of their orange). If you’re still only half an orange then you’re still lonely and lost in the world.
