So many years have gone by So much time So many days have turned to nights So many wasted chances Wonder about days to come I burn inside Time is slowly running out Memories won't turn to dust Days when we were all like one We were brothers then Now like leaves we are falling down Falling one by one I can.
01 - morne - asylum 02 - morne - edge of the sky 17:11 03 - morne - nothing to remain 22:20 04 - morne - i will see you 31:21 05 - morne - killing fields 42:01 06 - morne - my return 48:05 07 - morne - volition 56:39. morne to me just sounds like the natural progress of filth of mankind into a more and more encompassing soundscape, no need to pretend they're the combination of other shit.
Asylum is the second full length album from sludgy post metallers Morne. Despite their crust punk and sludge influences, Morne’s sound is crisp and clean cut for the genre; bottom heavy, but not drowned in post-metal fuzz. Asylum does feature sludge: properly down tuned guitars, and vocals consisting of nothing but a monotone roar.
The 17 minute title track opens the album with a strong dose of atmospheric sludge. 4 minutes 20 seconds into the song comes that moment. A beautiful little piano melody is being played on top of crushing guitar interplay; and you get lost in the music. Josh from That's How Kids Dies explains the lure of Morne so eloquently: It’s something about the guitar tone. Milosz Gassan and Jeff Hayward somehow channel ghosts through their amplifiers, pushing air that crackles with spectral electricity.
