It's the largest benefit concert in history to date.

And as early as Young's 1969 breakthrough solo album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, you can hear sonic influences well beyond Dylan's purview, such as Young's proclivity for guitar solos and extended instrumental jams. Put together by Bill Graham in 1975 to support school funding, Young and Dylan performed two of their most famous songs together, with the help of an all-star band. To mark the end of The Band's run as a group, a special one-off concert was put together on American Thanksgiving in 1976, with all their famous friends showing up to lend a hand. In 1992 to celebrate 30 years since Dylan recorded his first album, a dream cast was assembled at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Dylan is the surprise guest, billed as the man from the Fairmont, at a benefit concert for SNACK (Students Need Athletic and Cultural Kicks). Along with three members of the Band, Neil Young, Tim Drummond, and Ben Keith, Dylan stays on stage for half an hour. He contributes vocals on Are You Ready for the Country, I Want You, (the slightly rewritten) Knockin’ on Dragon’s Door, and Will the Circle Be Unbroken. Unfortunately his microphone is turned way down in the mix, and he is barely audible on tapes of the show, even though the whole concert is broadcast on a local radio station
